Financial Accountant

A leading funeral insurance company that operates nationally across South Africa is currently looking for an analytical Financial Accountant to join their team headquarters in Stellenbosch. The Financial Accountant will support the business units with high-quality and rigorous financial analysis to guide business decision-making and effective financial reporting.
This company began as South Africa's first funeral group schemes administrator and has grown to become a prominent player in the funeral insurance industry, taking pride in providing rapid claims settlements, often within six hours, and offers superior client value through its small, innovative and energetic team.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Produce monthly management accounts.
Manage accounts payable and bank payments on a daily basis.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and revenue and expense forecasts.
Perform ad hoc reporting of financial trends.
Conduct variance analysis and error finding on income statements and balance sheets.
Prepare financial information as requested for corporate reporting.
Assist with statutory reporting and management reporting as requested.
Contribute to the identification and implementation of strategies for profit and loss.
Regularly input and review data in accounting tools and maintain the dashboard view.
Support the claims reporting process.

Qualification and Experience Required:

Qualified SAIPA or SAICA Accountant.
5 - 7 years of total experience // 2 - 4 years of PQE.
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
Experience with accounting software (both input and output).
Experience working with Sage Evolution and Sage Intacct is highly advantageous.
Advanced computer skills (Excel) and some computer programming desired.
Financial services experience is advantageous (but not a requirement).

Disciplined, pro-active, and flexible.

Salary:

R35 000 - R40 000 / month (slightly negotiable based on experience).
