Financial Accountant

An innovative company is offering an opportunity for a Financial Accountant. The role involves processing invoices, managing bank payments, and handling general ledger operations, including reconciliations and monthly closings. It also includes maintaining fixed asset registers, ensuring tax compliance, and assisting with audits and other ad hoc tasks. A Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping, fluency in Afrikaans, and a strong grasp of accounting principles are required.Responsibilities:Capturing of customer and supplier invoicesLoading of bank paymentsPrepare and process journal entries to trial balance levelComplete general ledger operationsMonthly supplier and customer closings and reconciliationsPrepare analysis of accounts as requested by various departments within the businessAdminister accounts receivable and accounts payableAccountable for accounts/bank reconciliationsMaintaining the integrity and accuracy of fixed asset registersAssisting in preparing monthly management accounts and accompanying reportsEnsuring adequate accounting practices are followed regarding VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and WCAPrepare VAT201 returns and complete reconciliationsAssist with preparation for annual BEE auditAssist with preparation for annual financial auditsAssist with ad hoc tasksRequirements:Accounting qualification, Bookkeeping qualificationAccounting (SAIPA) articles will be advantageousAt least 3 years accounting experienceXero / Ability to learn new accounting softwareStrong Microsoft Excel knowledgeKnowledge on inventory management would be advantageousAttention to detail and accuracyPlanning and organizingCommunication skillsInitiativeAbility to identify opportunities for cost or time savingProblem analysis and problem-solving skillsAbility to work patiently within a teamAdherence to deadlinesDriven and performance orientedGood command of English & Afrikaans language
