Job Overview: The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining the company's financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations.
This role focuses on technical accounting tasks and supports the Financial Manager in daily financial operations, enabling him/her to focus on higher-level management duties.
The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in preparing and reviewing financial information, reconciliations, and supporting budget and tax processes.
Individual needs to communicate fluently in Afrikaans.
Key Responsibilities: 1 .
Financial Reporting and Record Keeping Prepare and maintain accurate financial records with more complex accounting tasks.
Review various financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Generate monthly management accounts, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Assist the Financial Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Group Accounting Prepare group accounting entries, ensuring accurate Intercompany bookkeeping.
Investigate and resolve any intercompany discrepancies promptly.

Reconciliations Review reconciliations of accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.

Support for Budgeting and Forecasting Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Financial Manager.
Monitor actual performance against the budget, identify variances, and report findings.

Tax Compliance and Filing Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with income tax filings.
Handle other tax returns as required, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and liaise with tax authorities as needed.

Accounts Payable and Receivable Management Assist with the approval and processing of invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed on time.
Support the management of outstanding payments and ensure the timely collection of receivables.

Audit and Compliance Support Assist in preparing information for internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary financial documentation is organized and accurate.
Support the Financial Manager in maintaining internal controls and financial compliance.

Support for Financial Manager Provide technical accounting support to the Financial Manager, allowing them to focus on management-level tasks.
Assist in financial analysis and participate in special projects as needed.

Requirements Qualifications and Experience: 1.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent.
2.
Experience (Preferred but not required): Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Experience in property development and/or management.
Experience with property management systems, specifically MRI Property Central 3.
Skills and Competencies: • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, particularly relating to group accounting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with cloud-based technology platforms (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint) for managing financial data and documents.
• Analytical and Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations.
Analytical mindset for identifying variances and solving financial discrepancies.
• Communication Skills: Good communication in Afrikaans and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
