What will you do?
Applies principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports. Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Analyses financial information detailing with assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarise and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers. Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement. Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures. May make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures. May have supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualification
BCom Accounting / Diploma in Accounting
Minimum Experience
6 - 8 years accounting experience
IFRS and General Accepted Accounting Principles knowledge
Tax acts (VAT and Income Tax) knowledge
Short-term insurance act and regulations knowledge
Requirements
Proven experience in financial accounting, preferably in insurance or related financial services industry
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards – including an understanding of IFRS17
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Analytical and problem-solving
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Integrity and ethical behaviour in financial management
Adaptability and willingness to learn and grow in role.
Innovative and willingness to improve and make things better
Result Areas
Preparation and analysis of statutory financial statements and reports, including month-end reporting.
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
General Ledger management and ensuring integrity of all accounts during month-end close.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
Assist with audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance requirements.
Monitor and analyse financial performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
Participate in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
Provide support and guidance to departments on financial matters.
Prepare and file various financial reports and disclosures as required.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, policies, and regulations.
