We are seeking a Financial Accountant to oversee accounts payable operations and support treasury, supplier payments, and high-volume working capital management. The successful candidate will take ownership of the role, drive process improvements, and ensure reliability across finance functions.You will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, global company, with mentorship from our Financial Controller and direct reporting to our Finance Director. Key tasks include, but are not limited to:Invoice & Payment ManagementVerify and enter invoices accurately into the accounting system.Schedule and execute payments on time, using various payment methods.Reconcile accounts payable transactions with bank statements and ensure timely client/host payouts.Financial Reporting & ComplianceOversee month-end close and maintain accurate accounts payable reports.Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and legal requirements.Process ImprovementIdentify and implement process improvements and assist in developing AP policies and procedures.Cash Flow & ForecastingManage cash flow and currency holdings, and assist in preparing cash flow forecasts.Risk ManagementSuggest and monitor fraud prevention processes and assess payment-related risks.CollaborationCoordinate with the finance team and other departments, participate in projects affecting AP, and provide support for payment issues and reporting.RequirementsDegree in Finance/Accounting (or a 2-3 year diploma with relevant experience).Part-qualified in CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent, with completed articles (3 years preferred).Proficient in Xero (preferred, not essential).A proactive, go-getter attitude with the ability to take ownership of the role.Must be available to work in Cape Town 1-2 times a week.Benefits23 days paid holiday days (plus public holidays)An extra day off for your birthday - because who wants to work on their birthday?Access to Workshop 17, Kloof StreetLaptop - for business useMedical Aid/Medical Insurance OptionsAt Houst, we embrace diversity and inclusion as fundamental pillars of our workplace culture.
