Financial Accountant

The Finance Manager will oversee the finance department, including statutory financial reporting and tax compliance for Durban-managed business units and trial balances.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPerform Financial Accountant functions, including statutory financial reporting and tax compliance for managed business units in Durban.DAY TO DAY FUNCTIONS:Accounts ReceivableReview debtors' reconciliations & invoice processing.Monitor credit limits, CGIC activity, resolve disputes, and oversee credit control process with AR Controller.Review maintenance of AR sub-ledger.Review weekly debtors meeting report.Review late payment interest calculations.Accounts PayableReview and authorize coding and authorization of creditors' invoices.Review creditors reconciliations & process payments.Supervise resolution of creditor queries.Review maintenance of AP sub-ledger.Monitor accrual/prepaid accounts (GL maintenance).Review and approve new business partners.Cash Management / TreasuryReview and authorize FEC and supplier payments (ZAR and Foreign).Liaise with treasury manager on currency hedging and other activities.GeneralCoordinate daily group activities and objectives.MONTH END:Prepare month end journals covering non-trade related trial balance items.Maintain fixed assets register.Prepare customer brokerage account calculations.REQUIREMENTS:Matric qualification.BCom degree in Accounting with 5-10 years' experience.CA (SA) qualification preferred.Advanced Excel skills essential.Sound knowledge of Companies Act, Income Tax Act, IFRS.Proficiency in technical analysis tools and platforms.Advanced user of Excel and PowerBI.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask effectively, and priorities tasks to meet deadlines.CORE COMPETENCIES:Engage with stakeholders including shareholders, banking partners, suppliers, customers, and team members.Commercially astute & perceptive, with a target-driven approach.Detail-oriented, committed to integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and high attention to detail.Drive efficiencies, manage complexity, and optimize business processes.Proficient in Excel, PowerBI, and technical analysis tools.Effective communicator, with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Adaptability to fast-paced environments and a proactive, self-driven attitude.
