Position Purpose To ensure the Financial Accountant function is managed efficiently by:
Supporting the Finance Department through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data.Verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of source documentation.Sifting through large amounts of information to quickly determine relevant facts and figures for decision making.Key Responsibilities Build and maintain sound business relationship with:Fellow Finance Team (Credit Control, Accounting and Finance Manager)Other departments and senior management; and3rd Parties (SARS, auditors, consultants).Assist with year-end statutory audit.Adhere to month-end timetable accounting deadlines;Take ownership of the following accounting functions:Trade promotion which involves full GTN (gross to net) process, releasing accruals and rebatesRebates (in line with customer trading terms)Internal orders on SAPVAT monthly submission and maintenanceMonthly Inter-company COGNOS reporting.Revaluation of foreign bank accountsPreparation of monthly trade promotion, markdown and rebates in Accounts Receivable reports.Prepare monthly reconciliation for destructions and donations.Compiling valid, complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations:Present balance sheet reconciliations to Head of Corporate Finance; andFollow up on reconciling items.Manage Prepayments & Display COGSMonthly preparation of recurring journals setup and releaseManaging price changes on SAP for NPD's (New product development)Maintain SA Reserve Bank Relationship which includes preparing applications and import undertakingsSupporting with maintaining internal control – LICS (including Retail LICS)Assist with SARS Audits – VAT, Tax, Customs, EMPAssist with annual external audit preparationsAssist with annual financial statement preparationsAssist the Head of Corporate Finance in forecasting, budgeting and month-end reporting process and any other ad-hoc requests in line with business requirementsPersonal Characteristics Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;Able to influence and communicate clearly at all levels;Methodical and structured approach to tasks;High flexibility and self-managed;Reliable, loyal, trustworthy and honest;Able to grow with the level of responsibilities; andGood leadership skills and passion for work.Requirements Skills and Competencies required B.Com Degree in Accounting or Financial Management;A minimum of three years working experience in Financial Accounting, preferably in a multinational FMCG environment;Understand the rationale behind doing tasks and risks involved in Financial Accounting areas;Use equipment and software available, in the most time effective way to complete day to day activities;Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; andAdvanced MS Excel skills, SAP experience considered to be a distinctive advantage.
