The role requires the candidate to be highly numerate, well organized, deadline driven, and an engaged business partner for all stakeholders.
This is a hybrid role, therefore applicants living in the Gauteng, Johannesburg area are preferred.ResponsibilitiesManage and review monthly management accounts including income statement and variance analysis, balance sheet and related reconciliations, intercompany billing calculations to ensure appropriate billing across entities and in line with contracts.Review all trial balances to ensure completeness of the accounts.Review open items reports to ensure all transactions are reconciled, and queries resolved timeously.Follow up on long outstanding items and guide revenue recognition.Prepare monthly reconciliation of accounting data to group reports.Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and consolidations.Prepare and reconcile intercompany accounts.Review monthly income statements for related operating expenditure accounts.Provide summaries of highlights to the Head of Finance for income statement, balance sheet and open items.Board reporting and preparation of related financial data for Board Reports.Work closely with the Statutory team in coordination of audits.Review all team prepared internal and external audit reconciliations.Review all statutory calculations including direct and indirect taxes.Ensure compliance with the Group's Transfer Pricing policy.Run Open Item Reports for all entities.Review and approve weekly payments.Ensure timeous supplier and intergroup payments.Ensure any systems development is capitalized in the accounting records.Investigate and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiencies.Be a key owner in financial system and process transformations.Review and maintain business process policies.Review accounting policies and procedures in line with IFRS.Day to day management of the financial accounting team.Coordinate functions in the team to ensure effective delivery of reporting.Ensure best business practice is embedded across all processes.Undertake bi-annual team appraisals and performance development reviews.Provide guidance, mentoring and support to all direct reports.Manage all stakeholder expectations appropriately.Qualifications10+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance.8+ years of post-articles working experience.4+ years of experience in a management role.Working knowledge of IFRS.Consolidation experience is preferred.Exposure to a global group finance environment.Experience in US GAAP is not essential.Experience in NetSuite is preferred.Experience in preparation and review of AFS.Self-motivated and highly productive.High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and strong analytical skills.Project management skills including the ability to meet deadlines.Strong ability to lead and be a team player.Must be able to work in a hybrid work environment.Ideally Gauteng based but other locales will be considered.Some travel may be required.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
