Overall Responsibility:The Finance Manager (Inland) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company's inland operations. This includes managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The Finance Manager will ensure compliance with financial regulations, develop strategies to optimize financial performance, and support senior management in decision-making processes. As an effective business partner to the Plant Manager (JHB) and logistics lead, this role provides strategic direction and recommendations to improve performance within a well-established risk framework. The role is ultimately the custodian of the Plant's financial health by way of a sound control environment and implementation or adherence to the minimum internal controls governance framework.Focus Area 1: Financial Leadership and Business PartneringBe the main financial advisor on short-, medium- and long-term decisions affecting the plant and inland operations.Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting professional growth and development.Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.Manage performance evaluations and career development plans.Offer commercial orientation and perspectives to the business leadership to drive value creation throughout the organization.Coordinate the strategic plan development and support the business leadership to evaluate ideas and options to drive P&L efficiencies and benefits.Focus on key strategic imperatives and priorities by creating capability within the team to effectively drive and support initiatives that will enhance those imperatives.Provide the business leadership with key financial measures to monitor and track performance to targets.Drive ownership of good cost management practices and provide cost-effective and efficient account and financial management services.Focus Area 2: Accounting and FinanceDesign and implement sound accounting processes and systems which ensure operational best practices.Maintain a competent finance team that provides up-to-date and accurate information to the business at all times.Ensure good record keeping and ensure that IT systems are adequate to support the current and future needs of the business.Custodian of all budget requirements and performance management to targets.Promote good capex management practices and reporting in line with group-approved budgets and spend mandates.Lead supplier management drive to ensure efficiency and promote continuous production.Ensure efficient working capital practices are entrenched.Work closely with tax authorities to ensure full compliance and minimize exposure to the business.Focus Area 3: Governance and ControlPromote good corporate governance practices and ensure the company has a sound internal control operating environment.Promote key external stakeholder engagements which are necessary to enhance health.Month-end inventory reconciliation to General Ledger.Monitor and review inventory provision in line with slow-moving, expired, and obsolete items.Review and approval of Inventory ID setup and stock items master data management.Lead the team to produce various daily/weekly/period/quarterly production analysis and variance reports for Management review.Establish a culture of integrity and ethical values. Ensure appropriate organizational structure, authority, and responsibility.Identify and evaluate financial risks. Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.Implement policies and procedures to mitigate risks, including segregation of duties, reconciliations, and approval processes.Ensure effective communication of financial information across the organization.Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of internal controls. Conduct regular internal audits.Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards.Focus Area 4: Plant Finance ManagementEnsure the team raises and receipts Purchase Orders for the Supply function.Ensure the team generates Production Tickets and captures Production Tickets to reflect production plans and actual material used.Ensure the team performs WIP and staging counts, verification, and reconciliation of Inventory balance report to general ledger.Ensure the team performs month-end production inventory counts confirmations and reconciliation of variances.Focus Area 5: Reporting, Budget, Forecast, PlanningPrepare and manage annual budgets and periodic forecasts.Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.Collaborate with the Leadership team to determine the true cost of process inefficiencies and establish data analysis tools for effective reporting.Collaborate with departmental heads to ensure budget adherence.Focus Area 6: Business PartneringAssist in the evaluation of investment opportunities and capital projects.Collaborate with the Leadership team to determine the true cost of process inefficiencies and establish data analysis tools for effective reporting.Establish actual cost using standard/job cost methods.Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic initiatives.Participate in the monthly close process.Minimum requirements of the role:Formal Tertiary qualification (CA Preferred).5-7 years' experience in financial management.FMCG industry experience.Required to be familiar with ERP systems.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Skills/competencies:Strong leadership and team management abilities.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.Must be detail-oriented, have strong research, problem-solving, and analytical skills, and have the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, vendors, and management.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong ability to multitask and prioritize.Willing to be challenged and work well within a team.Excellent planning and organizing ability.Strong Analytical Capability.
