KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE Analyse, interpret and report financial accounting records (both forecasted and actual) in accordance with US GAAP, SA GAAP and group reporting policies for the holding company, TBWA\ South Africa.A Financial Manager is responsible for the financial planning and analysis of a company, allowing the organisation to make well-informed commercial decisions.You will be expected to produce regular reports using financial data; and work collaboratively across the entire agency to analyse and monitor business performance and strategy.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR (KPI's) Maintenance, control and insight of financial accounting recordsEnsure costs and billings are processed by monthly deadlineReconcile and clear all balance sheet accountsReconcile monthly all intercompany loan accountsAccrue and monitor expenses not yet accounted forPrepare and review VAT returns and maintain tax filesPrepare and review royalty fees, media fees, etc.Close the ledger monthly, post and review journals, and finalise the trial balanceCash flow management and reporting Perform working capital management and reportingOversee, manage and review cash management records, including funds drawn and receivedLiaise with the bankFinancial Statements and periodic reportingPrepare of required financial statements and reports which include the compilation and analysis of data required for the preparation of specialised monthly, quarterly and annual reportsForecasts, budget management and group insights Monitor and forecast revenues and expenditures as well as direct the preparation of financial reports of the expenditures and revenuesMonitor and forecast budget activity, initiating expenditure control methods as necessaryReview and approve purchases and contracts in conjunction with Group Financial ManagerDevelop understanding of group profitability indicators and provide insights / feedbackCompliance and internal controls Reinforce internal controls with subordinates as well as ensuring that rules, regulations and procedures are adhered to as related to the accounting processParticipate, with the guidance of the GFM, in the development of new accounting techniques as well as in the design and implementation of accounting subsystemsConsult with employees, internal managers, external auditors or other stakeholders to provide and obtain information on complex issues and process improvementsPrepare documentation required for financial year-end and annual audit, including the primary review of auditor outputROLE REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE • Knowledge and experience within the advertising industry and related disciplines• BCom Financial Accounting• At least 2-5 years financial accounting experience• At least 2 years article clerk experience• Previous experience in managing staff preferred• Qualified CA (SA) preferredREQUIRED SKILLS • Excellent financial skills• Excellent organizational ability• Verbal and written communication skills• Creation of a strong team environment and positive working culture• Proactive support of Group Financial Manager and flexibility with ad hoc requestsREQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS • Microsoft (Excel, Word, etc.)• Current working knowledge of IFRS and SA GAAP• Broad understanding of US GAAP• Hyperion experience preferred but not compulsoryREQUIRED BEHAVIOURS • Highly professional• Driven, energetic and engaged• Strong sense of urgency when required• Ability to react and be proactive• Training, counselling and mentoring of subordinates, ensuring delivery on KPIs• Creation of clear self-development and growth plans• Provision of feedback to GFM and GCFO regarding suggested improvements
