As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale up tech business join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place.ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable finance manager to drive the company's financial operations.In this role you will work under and directly report to the Head of Finance in financial reporting and analysis of the business, preparations of financials for management or audit, budgeting and forecast modelling, supporting compliance, cost analysis and management, tax management, payroll and managing payments to suppliers.You will be part of a passionate and dedicated Finance team, supported by an external accounting firm/specialist where needed.This is a unique opportunity to join one of the largest education technology startups in Africa and directly support our management team in key decision-making decision-making.RESPONSIBILITIESPreparing management reportsPreparing monthly management reports.Commentary on monthly accounts (overall and departmental).Ensure timely monthly accounts closing and reporting to group deadlines.Preparing monthly reports of financial performance by division, department and entity.Reviewing the reconciliation of bank accounts, supplier accounts, customer accounts and balance sheet items.Preparing monthly flash reportsFinancial Modelling, Budgeting and ForecastingModelling expenses and revenues to help forecast the company P&L and cash-in-bank on a monthly and annual basis.Analysing business data to provide feedback on operational performance, optimising costs and planning revenue growth.Identifying areas of improvement to make financial reporting more useful and actionable for strategy-setting.Financial Operations and PayrollResponsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records - overseeing and reviewing transactions, with hands-on intervention when necessary.Evaluate and implement controls to ensure efficiencies in the financial processesOverseeing customer invoice management and payments to suppliers.Liaising with our business bankers for administrative and other requirements.Reviewing payroll and monthly payment runs.Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practicesManagement of Fixed Asset RegisterPreparing regular operational cash flow forecastsComplianceReviewing and submitting PAYE, NI and VAT for the UK and SA companies.Support in preparing for and meeting statutory, regulatory and investor reporting requirements.Managing the annual financial audit and preparing the annual accountsSubmitting annual returns for UK and SA companiesPreparing Company tax computationsREQUIREMENTSMinimum:CA/ACCA/CIMA qualificationAt least 4 years of financial reporting experienceExperience and understanding of South African VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL requirementsExperience and understanding of applicable financial regulations and compliance requirementsExperience in managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts PayableExceptional attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of planning and organisation skillsAbility to handle sensitive, confidential informationExtensive experience creating and maintaining financial modelsProven financial forecasting and diagnosis knowledge, corporate finance, and information analysis.Preferred:Experience using Xero or an equivalent accounting systemExposure to US accounting and tax practicesExperience in carrying out due diligence and M&A activitiesAt least 2 years of experience managing a teamPrior experience in the tech or education industries.BENEFITSFlexible & remote working: We are a remote-friendly organisation and offer flexible work options.Annual leave: We provide up to 25 annual leave days as part of our leave policy.Join the heart of tech in Africa, the US, and Europe: You'll work with the best of the best and rub shoulders with the world leaders in edtech, developer education, and developer assessments.
