We are looking for a Finance Manager to play a critical role in assisting the Head of Retail and Head of Fresh and contributing to the overall financial health and success of the Retail/Fresh Operating Division. The role involves educating and supporting individuals in the business on financial information, monitoring business financial health, and creating efficiencies in the operating model across all aspects of the Operating Region's Profit and Loss statement.
Minimum Requirements BCom/Hons Degree in Financial/Management Accounting. CA (SA) will be advantageous.3 years of experience in Retail Finance Environment with extensive experience in Financial Modelling, Reporting Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting. Meat industry experience will be an added advantage.Working knowledge of SAP, Sage Evolution, and Meat Matrix will be advantageous.Professional knowledge of Operating Business Model.1-2 years' experience in Management Accounts is essential.1 year financial planning & reporting experience is critical for this role.Competencies Strong financial analysis skills to assess the financial health of Pick n Pay.Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, and financial statement analysis.Ability to identify, assess and manage financial risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.Strong data analysis and management skills using finance tools such as SAP, BBP, and Analysis for Office.Highly motivated, results-oriented, and self-directed individual.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly, concise, and easily comprehensible manner.Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.Strong customer service presence, collaboration, negotiation, communication, organization, people management, and conflict resolution skills.Proactive approach to implementing changes.Strong sense of accountability and operational excellence.Well organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent planning and time management skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to support staff teams.Key Responsibilities Educate and support individuals in the business on financial information, monitoring business financial health, and creating efficiencies in the operating model.Provide all finance support to run the business area including driving improved profitability and cost efficiencies.Collaborate with Retail and Fresh leadership to align financial strategies with the overall strategic intent of the retail division.Ensure that financial plans and objectives support the business's long-term goals and growth strategies.Prepare business cases for new initiatives and investments as required by the Head of Retail/Finance Division.Monitor performance against approved business cases and budgets.Generate reports to support decision-making within the retail division.Monitor financial performance, identify key trends, and analyze variances against budgets and forecasts.Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.Prepare regular financial reports for retail leaders and senior management.Maintain project budgets and forecasts.Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and regulations.Develop a deep understanding of the overall Meat industry and align your advice and key decisions to support it.Analyze cross-functional and business data to inform strategic, operational, and domain-specific trends.Support the Retail Finance executives in enhancing services offered and identifying new services finance can initiate.Assist the business in resolving financial audit queries.Implement and ensure continuous improvement on all processes between Finance and Operations functional areas.Lead or contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the retail division.Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess financial performance.Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to identify future potential financial issues and develop contingency plans.Act as the Risk Manager for the Operating Region and manage all risk-related matters, audit queries, and insurance claims processes.Closing date: 16 November 2024 If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
