Rival is looking for a Finance Manager to join our Cape Town-based team and serve as lead on all aspects of Financial reporting and management within our growing business. Working closely with the Operations Director, this role requires a self-starter who must be able to work independently to develop our finance model.RoleOperate as the trusted business partner to the Operations Director and CEO, helping to establish a solid reporting framework and increase our ability to make financial decisions.Conduct an audit of our current Financial framework and provide recommendations for improvements to solve problems, improve efficiency and drive growth and profitability.BAU Finance Management:General Bookkeeping (both US and UK entity) for all Rival services.Monthly reporting cycle to produce accurate and insightful MI reports, including: Balance Sheet, P&L, Cashflow, Forecast and Revenue (both US and UK entity).Managing Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable (both US and UK entity).Handling the affiliate and commission process.Work with our local tax and compliance partners to manage:Monthly payroll, pensions and healthcare admin (UK and US entity).Annual Accounts & Corporation Tax return (UK and US entity).VAT return per quarter (UK entity).Companies House Annual Returns (UK entity).Annual share option filings with HMRC (UK entity).Strategic Finance Management:Play a leading role in quarterly and annual planning.Work with each business lead to set budgets and track revenue-related goals.Prepare and deliver reports for our leadership team, including forecasts and narratives that describe business strategy and performance, assess business risk and operating health, and align cross-functional teams to effective solutions.Produce stakeholder-specific MI reports, e.g., Board and Investors.You will be joining Rival at an exciting time - we are two years in, growing quickly, and have big plans for the next few years!We have a global client portfolio - you'll get a truly global perspective and be exposed to brands and projects in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.We are a small (but mighty!) team of about 20, so you'll have the opportunity to learn and work on a wide variety of projects and our own product development.This role holds a ton of potential for the right person, as you'll be working closely with the leadership team shaping the future of our business.RequirementsWe'd like to hear from you if…You have a Finance Degree, as well as a minimum of 3 years of working experience.Strong organizational skills along with the demonstrated ability to work to a deadline.Have a start-up mentality and personality: you're mission-driven and not afraid to get stuck in.A proven track record of success in building out scalable financial models.A working knowledge of Excel, Google, and Quickbooks.Ability to accurately process transactions in alignment with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).Understanding of accounting for foreign currency transactions which may include inter-company transactions.Comfortable interacting with internal and external senior-level executives.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven success partnering and collaborating across various functions.We would be particularly excited if...You have experience in an early-stage start-up.You have worked independently in a fast-paced environment.You have experience in marketing, agency, or consulting industries.CompensationOur compensation philosophy is to "mid-market base, top-market upside".
