Finance Assistant

The Haven Night Shelter Organisation (www.haven.org.za), a non-governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community, requires a dynamic Finance Assistant that will be based at the Head Office, 2 Napier Street, Cape Town.
The Haven Night Shelter Organisation's method is to offer social work services, rehabilitation opportunities, family reunification services, physical care and support available to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.
Job Purpose
Provide support to the Financial Manager and wider finance team by helping to prepare valid and accurate financial statements, budgets, statutory returns and payroll processing. Reconciles transactions across the general ledger and sub-ledgers together with other key accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant

Maintains petty cash and prepares petty cash reimbursement.
Maintains Head Office credit card payments and prepares/checks reimbursement schedules for reimbursement.
Ensures all Balance sheet accounts have a reconciliation.
Prepare and present Financial Dashboards to the Financial Manager for review.
Review VAT reconciliations and attends to SARS queries.
Assist with payroll input, reports and reconciliations.
Assist with preparation of budget and consolidation schedules.
Manage the assets registers for all Haven Shelters and for Head Office.
Responsible for preparing audit schedules and dealing with any queries that the auditors may have during the audit.
Keep abreast of accounting principles and regulations to ensure compliance.

The Finance Assistant will report to the Finance Manager.
Minimum Requirements

National Diploma or Degree in finance, accounting, business or any related field.
Active affiliation with appropriate finance management networks and organizations, preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience in bookkeeping/accounting positions.
Proficient with MS Office & Pastel Accounting.
