Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, BioHubNet, and working closely with the Director, Strategy & Partnership at PRiME, the Finance & Grant Administrator will be responsible for supporting the financial management for BioHubNet and PRiME, which includes a portfolio of training program funding, operating accounts, contracts and restricted accounts. The incumbent provides business administrative support, prepares the forecast and budget plans, detailed analysis of variances, prepares regular data monitoring analysis for senior management decision making.
Your responsibilities will include: Processing financial transactions and payroll and preparing purchase orders and expense reimbursementsWorking with MITACs and partners (industry, academia, government) to process payments and manage funds across institutionsForecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets; and analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision makingMonitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocationsMonitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contractsInterpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisionsApplying the generally accepted accounting principles to all financial tasks and applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirementsResolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as requiredEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experienceMinimum five years of recent and related experience with financial analysis and reporting in a complex fast-paced educational institutionExperience with FIS/RIS/HRIS systems as well as complex spreadsheetsProven experience with compiling, researching, investigating and analyzing financial information and making recommendations based on outcome of analysesDemonstrated experience and knowledge working directly with granting agencies (including MITACS, NSERC, CFI), and interpreting/applying granting agency rules and regulationsExperience overseeing, planning and preparing complex budgets, forecasting and statistical information; monitoring and reconciling financial activity and payroll distribution and report generation, including preparing financial statementsExperience overseeing all financial transactions (revenue and expenditures) against operating budgets and research grant accountsExperience processing financial transactionsDemonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotions of a respectful and collegial learning and working environmentDemonstrated strong knowledge of general accounting principles and proceduresStrong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing prioritiesHighly developed computer skills including advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting softwareExcellent communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to explain financial concepts and procedures to Principal Investigators, trainees, research and administrative staffDemonstrated ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, good judgement, initiative, tact and discretionExcellent interpersonal and customer services skills and attention to detail; Experience working with Restricted fundsAssets (Nonessential): Financial and administrative experience in the University of TorontoCompletion of a recognized professional program (e.g. CPA) is preferred.To be successful in this role you will be: Closing Date: 10/09/2024, 11:59PM ET

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 14 -- $90,056. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $115,169.
