Aon Re Africa is recruiting a Finance & Customer Technical Services Specialist in our Finance department, based on a hybrid basis from our Head Offices in Sandton. The role of the finance & customer technical services specialist is to assist the head of finance with Treasury and client technical services related to administration and queries and implementation of processes. This requires a thorough understanding of end-to-end processes from sales input to financial reporting (IFRS & US GAAP).
What the day will look likePrepare management information reports extracted from GRiDS to help monitor performance of the business and individuals/ client technical services teams.
Improve Fiduciary and Non-Fiduciary Cashflow - help with developing better business processes to recover funded/ outstanding cash.
Ad hoc project work through needs analysis, problem solving and implementation.
Financial planning and analysis tasks including budgeting, forecasting and actual reporting.
Assist client technical services teams with query resolution.
Balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
Approve and release disbursements on GRiDS and online banking platform.
Ensure proper controls over all financial processes.
Handle various aspects of technical and general ledger, financial reporting and analysis functions.
Daily monitoring of cash book through follows up of uncleared and reconciliation.
Month-end processing and reporting.
Capturing all journal entries onto accounting system.
Prepare reconciliations, review invoices for any discrepancies or inaccuracy.
Keep track of inter-company account balances.
Drive adhoc initiatives, with client technical services and broking personnel.
Management information reports (CTS):
Preparation of open brokerage.Open balances: claims payment performance, advance analysis, net accounting management.Unallocated cash, bureau transaction management, aging analysis.Collected brokerage, brokerage draw down, rebates.Client money calculator, management of fid and non fid timing splits.ECF reports, report management of bureau systems (LMI & CLASS).Skills and experience that will lead to successQualifications: Grade 12 (matric).A degree in accounting or financial management.Knowledge: Knowledge of market practices and taxation requirements.Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles.Understanding of sales input into financial reporting.Working knowledge of foreign exchange.Knowledge of relevant systems, e.g. RBS, GRiDS, PeopleSoft.Skills and Attributes: Well-developed analytical technical and problem-solving skills.Well-developed communication skills.Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills.Well-developed interpersonal skills.Proven ability to work with and in teams.Computer literacy with advanced experience in Power BI, Sharepoint, MS Word and Excel.Well-developed business and financial skills and acumen.Experience: Have a minimum of 3 years' related experience in financial management, preferably in the financial services environment.Experience with technical and financial accounting.Minimum 3 years analytical, financial & accounting.Insurance/reinsurance experience advantageous.How we support our colleaguesIn addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
