Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division is looking for an experienced Field Service Supervisor. This position will manage and lead the field service team in allocating workload and managing the day-to-day operations. It requires the job holder to coordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard. The specific duties include formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring resources, and securing compliance.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Provide technical support for field service tech in the workshop and on the customer site.
Be able to read wiring diagrams and drawings and be familiar with compressors and turbines.
Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop/site including job scheduling and labor allocation for day-to-day operations.
Ensure supplies are ordered for each field service job.
Provide oversight and check job project plans. Regularly report progress on each job, quickly communicate delays or concerns with the MD and project managers.
Act as a technical advisor on key projects and other business areas as requested.
Work with management to investigate customer complaints and concerns arising from products and suggest appropriate solutions.
Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information pertaining to technical details.
Monitor team performance and provide feedback to staff that are not performing to the expected level.
Promote a health and safety culture within the business.
Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
Your Education Should Be…
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Engineering trade qualification.
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
Trade test certificate in Fitting & Turning.
5-10 years of compressor and turbine hands-on experience.
People management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with people at various levels from the shop floor to senior management.
Ability to look beyond the initial customer inquiry and identify other business opportunities.
CAD drawing skills are an advantage but not essential.
Project management experience.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Quality and productivity-focused, with a firm commitment to customer service excellence.
Maintain a professional appearance.
