Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility. Take action to identify new Service Business Opportunities for ABB in cooperation with the customer and other ABB Team Members. The work model for the role is: Onsite.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Health, safety, and integrity: Adhere to standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and comply with ABB and the Clients Company Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements; takes reasonable care of one's own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.Service delivery: As a member of the ABB ELSE team the main purpose of the Field Service Engineer - Commissioning role is to deliver a high quality, consistent and competent service in accordance with project/company requirements, standards, and procedures to support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.Testing and commissioning functions: Safely perform testing and commissioning on Medium/LV voltage distribution systems, Medium/LV voltage switchgear, Digital Switch Gear, Protection relays, Protection relay coordination, settings, SLDs, cable schedule, Key Schematic Diagrams, Medium/LV voltage retrofit installations, and Battery chargers.Documentation and reports: Prepares all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative and utilizes all relevant tools. Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed.Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot Equipment/Process failures and requests proactive corrective actions and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.Service excellence: Proactively plans and executes work on a first-time right approach with customers, ensuring the job is done on time and quality.People leadership and development: Provides technical guidance to associates and acts as trainer when needed for field service associates and customers.Challenges: Do standby, travelling to various sites, working under pressure, working in and outside South Africa's borders.
