FIELD MANAGER | DURBAN & FREE STATE (12 Month Contract)R650,000 R950,000 CTC PER ANNUM Our client a leading suppliers of petroleum products in South Africa through its vast network of approximately 850 service stations is looking for a Field Manager to join their team. The client has a Level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment rating against the amended Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Codes of Good Practice. The client has committed to protecting people and the environment and to driving sustainable economic growth in South Africa through its social investment programmes in health, education and economic development. PURPOSE OF ROLE:This is a field-based role that will provide the client visibility and oversight into the Branded Marketer clusters. The role will also provide on-the-ground support to the Branded Marketers and their retailers where agreed. Work with and advise BM Retailers and Territory Managers (Business Consultants) to achieve SHEQ, Brand Operational Excellence Compliance on site. Provide ESMs with any cluster insights and themes that require intervention or where opportunity exists YOUR DAY TO DAYProvide business advisory support to retailers and BCs within a BM clusterWork with the ESM and support teams to develop targeted aggressive growth initiatives for sites within the cluster and ensures consistent and disciplined execution of processes/procedures/programs/systems geared towards achieving business plan commitmentsProvide guidance, training and coaching to the BM cluster teamSupport all Retail strategic projects within the BM cluster e.g., rebranding, shop upgrades etc and assist in closing gapsProvide assurance that the client fuels are delivered and sold at BM sites within the clusterReview wet-stock management and ensure compliance at BM sites and provide assurance that the client fuels are sold at BM sites within the clusterRecommend improvement opportunities based on clear understanding of local trading and competitive landscape in order to lift the overall cluster performanceImplement Stop-Work-Authority and report all non-compliant activities to be correctedProvide assurance of site compliance to the clients Brand, Visual and Operational standards and raise awareness on gaps for closureEnsure that all actions are implemented and closed including after cluster visits and/or auditsProvide assurance and validation on projects status to help monitor delivery and planningAccompany ESM during all BM cluster visits and ensure clear actions are captured, executed and closed on timeValidate that all promotional activities are current and promotional brand standards are metCollaborate with the BM TMs/BCs to streamline visits where possible and align on activitiesMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Sales and Marketing qualificationAt least 5 years of field sales experience in the petroleum industryProven track record of Retail Sales and Operations business turnaround preferably in the petroleum industryA valid drivers license and availability to travel for periods of timeKnowledge and experience of Fuel and Retail convenience business both fuel and non-fuel retailing as well as SHEQ requirements at retail sitesStrong understanding of customer and market dynamics to drive sales growth KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Retail detail and site excellence knowledgeRelationship managementGood organizational management skillsExcellent verbal/written communication skills.Good collaboration skillsTrack record of operational excellence deliveryHigh level of commercial acumen and understanding of value driversExcellent interpersonal and negotiation skills REPORTING:Primary Reporting: Enterprise Sales Manager (ESM)Secondary Reporting: National Sales Manager BM KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Financial PerspectiveVerification of site level volume performance vs. the reports submitted by BMProvide Wet-Stock Management assurance across BM clusterProvide Project Progress and Risks updatesIdentify opportunities within the cluster to support the delivery of objectives and KPIsWork with all relevant stakeholders to de-risk the business and prevent sites from becoming vulnerable and ultimately running dry. Be proactive and have foresight to see risk before it materializesCustomer/Branded Marketer PerspectiveUnderstand BM`s obligations to the client to ensure BMs act in accordance with the client brand Retail Outlet standards manual and regulatory requirements as per HES Book of RulesProvide the client with critical market intelligence to facilitate improved BM business processes and decision makingProvide marketing competitor information within the BM cluster to support with the business plan cycle / processBrand, operations and promotion complianceProvide advisory services to BM retailers and ensure implementation of initiatives to improve overall customer experienceBusiness ExcellenceSupport the Enterprise Sales Manager to have visibility of site level challenges and non-compliance and drive site operational excellence and complianceEnsure the client Standards adherence and SHEQ compliance is metHelp to nurture and develop a culture of operational excellence and teamwork to ensure targets are met and exceededAssist in tracking and benchmarking competitive activity within the region and share insights to enhance decision makingMonitor SHEQ training records, determine requirements and advise ESMSupport ESM to ensure that BM`s meet Business expectations and Business Plan commitmentsRELATIONSHIPS | CONTACTS | COMMUNICATION:Internal:Enterprise Sales ManagersOperations SupportMarketingNetwork and EngineeringCard OperationsExternal:Branded MarketersBM RetailersCustomersPURPOSE OF COMMUNICATION:Business planning, Performance management and business reviews (ongoing daily with weekly and monthly recurring engagements)Diesel Pricing and competitor landscapeCustomer experienceBrand and Operations Excellence complianceProject progress and RisksOps Support team: Tools for Wet-stock management processMarketing: Marketing related activities and promotions to validate and verify at BM sitesNetwork and Engineering: Verification of USTS completed at site levelCard Operations: provide required card information and site terminals and card data.
