We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Farm Manager to oversee agricultural operations in Banket, Zimbabwe.
The Farm Manager will be responsible for managing the cultivation of maize, soybeans, and winter wheat across a total of 900 hectares, with irrigation from center pivot systems dependent on available water reserves in the dams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy, irrigation management, crop planning, and team leadership.

Responsibilities: Crop Management: Develop and implement comprehensive crop management plans for maize, soybeans, and winter wheat.
Monitor crop growth, health, and yield throughout the growing seasons.
Coordinate planting, fertilization, pest and disease control, and harvesting activities.
Ensure adherence to sustainable farming practices and compliance with relevant regulations.
Irrigation Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of center pivot irrigation systems.
Monitor water levels in dams and adjust irrigation schedules accordingly to optimize water usage.
Implement water conservation measures during periods of drought or limited water availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve irrigation system issues promptly to minimize crop loss.
Equipment and Infrastructure: Manage farm equipment and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance and repairs.
Coordinate with suppliers to procure necessary inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and chemicals.
Maintain farm infrastructure, including roads, fences, and irrigation infrastructure.
Budgeting and Planning: Develop annual budgets for crop production, irrigation, and farm operations.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
Plan crop rotations and land use strategies to optimize yields and soil health.
Provide regular reports on financial performance and production metrics to senior management.
Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of farm workers, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability among farm staff.
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure that work is carried out efficiently and according to schedule.
Provide guidance and support to staff to enhance their skills and productivity.
Key Skills: Proven experience in farm management, with a focus on maize, soybean, and winter wheat production.
Strong knowledge of agronomic principles, crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and irrigation techniques.
Experience with center pivot irrigation systems and water management practices.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
Solid understanding of financial management and budgeting.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and solve problems effectively.
Familiarity with local agricultural conditions, climate, and regulatory requirements in Zimbabwe.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or related field.
Advanced degree preferred.
