Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Vineyard/olive Management
Oversee all aspects of cultivation, including planting, pruning, pest and disease control, and harvest.
Monitor vine/olive health and implement measures to ensure optimal growth and grape quality.
Coordinate with consultants to implement best practices and improve vineyard/olive performance.
Team Leadership
Hire, train, and manage staff, including seasonal workers.
Schedule and supervise daily tasks and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Operations and Logistics
Plan and execute vineyard/olive maintenance schedules.
Manage the procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Oversee irrigation systems and ensure efficient water management.
Budgeting and Financial Management
Develop and manage the agriculture budget.
Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Prepare financial reports and provide updates as required.
Compliance and Sustainability
Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations.
Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact.
Maintain records of pesticide and fertilizer use, and other compliance-related activities.
Harvest Coordination
Plan and coordinate harvest activities, ensuring optimal timing for harvest.
Manage logistics for transportation of olive supplies.
Work closely with winemakers/consultants/olive experts to meet quality specifications.
Research and Development
Stay updated on the latest vineyard/olive management techniques and technologies.
Conduct trials of new farming methods.
Collaborate with research institutions and industry experts.
Overall farm management
Responsible for certain farm roads, fire breaks, dams, gardens, and rivers.
Responsible for farm borders and relationships with neighboring farms.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in viticulture, agriculture, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of viticulture/olive practices and principles.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proficient in budgeting and financial management.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with sustainability practices in agriculture.
