Responsibilities: Repair and maintenance of vehicle fleet and equipment.Basic construction and building maintenance including electrical work.Stock control.Procurement: obtaining quotations and purchase orders; collection and distribution of purchases.Staff management.Operate effectively in a pressurized agricultural environment.Ensure that a plan is in place for the areas to be tended prior to each weekMaintain all gardens and lawns in an aesthetically pleasing conditionArrange maintenance where needed on buildings and structuresEnsure that the roads and drainage adjacent to the roads are kept in good orderDevelop and implement an register and maintenance schedule for all rental, Company owned vehicles, equipment and tractors per estateEnsure adherence to the Company Vehicle Policy by all drivers of rental, Company owned vehicles and tractors per estate and ensure corrective action of deviations is taken through disciplinary code.Develop and maintain a driver register indicating driver competency testing to ensure compliance with driver registration and PDP-licensing of all drivers of all rental, Company owned vehicles and tractors per estateEnsure service level agreements are implemented and adhered to for bus transport providers and safe driving procedures are adhered to by all drivers.
Relevant actions to be taken for any driving violations.Ensure implementation of effective spray programme for estate in consultation with all other departmentsEnsure adherence to health and safety policies and spray procedures for all spray operationsMonitor and enforce all health and safety measures according to legislation and company safety plan.
Corrective action of deviations through disciplinary code.Ensure that the relevant PPE is issued to every employee in the Estate Maintenance department and receipt thereof is recordedEvaluation and procurement of all safety equipment to ensure hazards are minimized Requirements: Grade 12.
Tertiary qualification an advantage.Minimum 3 years' experience of working on a farm environment.Good mechanical, welding and auto electrical skills on agricultural equipment and vehicles.Computer literate – proficient in E-mail, Excel, Word and internet.Administration and report writing skills.Experience in procurement of agricultural equipment, workshop, tractor and vehicle spares and parts.Code 8 Driver's License.
Code 10 an advantage.Good communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
Xhosa an advantage.Staff management skills.Willingness to work overtime, weekends and in all weather conditions.Knowledge of large-scale crop production.Knowledge of ground maintenance and gardens.
