Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Finance Manager and the daily direction of the academic research group supervisor, the Faculty Support Services Assistant provides grant management and support for group research and teaching activities to an assigned group of researchers.
This is a term position to October 2025. Your responsibilities will include: Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocationsAdministering accounts for restricted fundsGenerating standard financial reportsTracking the financial status of accountsActing as the first point of contact for general enquiriesCoordinating the schedule for program and event calendarsScheduling travel plans and requesting appropriate accommodationsEssential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Finance or Business Administration or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum three years' recent and relevant experience in providing financial administration of restricted funds (research grants and start-up funds etc.) and providing administrative support for group research and teaching activities, preferably in a university environmentExperience with preparing and processing research expenses/expense reimbursementsExperience monitoring and reconciling fund accountsExperience planning expenditures and monitoring operating budgetsExperience with statistical reporting and analysisExperience in FIS, HRIS, RIS, Usource or equivalent systemsExperience in organizing logistics of events in a professional setting (e.g., scheduling programs/events, booking travel and hospitality for events)Strong knowledge of accounting principles, and policies and procedures in the university setting, including Guide to Financial ManagementAdvanced computer skills in MS Office suiteStrong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skillsExcellent verbal and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex policies to clientsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsDetail oriented and demonstrated accuracy with numbers and dataAssets (Nonessential): Experience in technical typing using LateX/Unix and in Web page design an assetKnowledge of Computer Science related research grants and fundsTo be successful in this role you will be: Closing Date: 09/16/2024, 11:59PM ET

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 10 -- $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
