At least 4 years academic experience in Engineering and the Built Environment and/ or relevant industrial experience.
A proven track record of assistance in language interventions in tertiary level programmes Knowledge of current legislation in education, labour and skills development.
Knowledge of SAQA, HEQSF, NQF and Professional body (ECSA; PLATO; SACPCMP; SACQSP; SAMSA) requirements.
Recommendations: Evidence to manage staff within an academic and innovative environment.
Proven evidence of ability to write comprehensive and highly professional proposals in English.
Completed either the TDP or HDET or equivalent.
Evidence of knowledge of teaching and learning practices; promoting research; language development programmes and information literacy.
Evidence of recent or current research in Higher Education Studies (i.e., conference presentations; published work; chapters in books).
Evidence of curriculum development experience.
Ability to communicate in two regional languages one of which is English.
A third additional regional language will be an advantage.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities The additional language coordinator portfolio will amongst others include: Plan and implement a language development strategy for the faculty in consultation with the Language Committee and Faculty Management: Chair the Faculty Language Committee and report to Faculty Management.
Implement and co-ordinate language development programmes for students.
Implement and co-ordinate language development initiatives for staff.
Promote digital self-access language learning resources and facilities in the faculty.
Champion the implementation of the Language Policy with regard to fostering a multilingual learning environment.
Promote and monitor the implementation of institutional information literacy standards and processes via curriculation of Communication courses, the Certificates of Information Literacy, and the CHELSA standards.
Assist HODs with regard to the recruitment of Communication Lecturers.
Serve as the faculty liaison to other institutional committees on matters related to the language portfolio and participate in institutional language-related committees such as the Senate Language Committee, Language Working Group, and the Information Literacy Subcommittee.
Keep a departmental academic load (i.e lecture at least one subject; supervise PG students) Art / Languages jobs
