Job ResponsibilitiesTo supervise the operation and production of cups, die cutting, hand fab and wrapper cups and to ensure the required efficiency to accepted quality standards and productivity targets, as set by Detpak South Africa are met.Factory supervisors are responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and executing daily tasks in line with the production schedule.Supervision of departmental personnel and allocation of labour resources in line with the weekly production scheduleEnsure machines are running to specification speed and daily production targets are being achievedCoordinate and ensure WIP material availability for HandfabPromote safe working practices and ensure all plant rules are adhered toReport any unsafe machine or workplace practice immediately to the Factory ManagerSet-up departmental machines, within specified set-up times and to standard waste levelsAssist machine operators and minders with trouble-shooting and fine-tuning of machines to achieve required speeds and quality standardsCoordinate the cleaning, lubricating and maintaining of machines, tools, equipment and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions, so as to achieve maximum output and minimal wasteEnsure production housekeeping standards are achieved and maintainedReport any mechanical/electrical breakdown to the Maintenance Manager immediatelyComplete the maintenance job card book accurately and submit to the Maintenance ManagerWeigh or measure materials and products to ensure conformance to specifications when requiredInspect materials and products for defects and to ensure conformance to specifications when requiredSort, select and stack materials, products and reject defects following specified instructions and standards when requiredAdd/adjust chemicals, solutions, inks to machines and equipment to ensure manufacturing process meets specificationAble to work overtime when requiredSkills RequiredConduct training and development of departmental personnelInvestigate and present improvements to processes and productivityChecks and records daily production and downtime into efficiency reportIssue tools at commencement of shift and check in tools at completion of shift, using the tooling checklistClean machine as required and as per cleaning checklistMaintain Housekeeping standards in the machine areaAssist in the operation of other machines as directed by managementWork with packers and assist in packing as requiredWill work overtime and weekends as directed by managementEssential QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field requiredPrevious experience in a supervisory capacity4+ years' manufacturing plant experiencePrevious experience in the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of cup making machines, printing machines etc.Able bodied and capable of physical workCapable of understanding and implementing product quality standards and packing specifications and safety standardsDemonstrated people and leadership skillsUnderstanding the business profitability and key measuresHigh Mechanical aptitude
