Factory Engineer

National group are seeking an experienced Factory Engineer too ensure that maintenance is carried out efficiently, to manage projects, to ensure high levels of plant efficiency, maximum production, minimal down time, and to ensure the health and safety of employees. To ensure that plant meets with environmental and energy requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage factory engineering projects 1. Carries out designs and prepares tender documentation and motivations for engineering projects 2. Provides the planning and budget for engineering projects 3. Manages projects and project budgets 4. Manages contractors on site Manage the factory maintenance and construction program 1. Ensures the development and implementation of a maintenance and construction program 2. Ensures the effective use of a reliability-based maintenance system 3. Manages the computerised maintenance system 4. Manages the maintenance budget 5. Provides input into the maintenance budget Manage the company assets of the factory site 1. Provides input to the factory capex strategy 2. Monitors and evaluates the performance of assets 3. Recommends and manages the procurement, replacement and disposal of assets 4. Assists in the maintenance of the assets register Manage the factory safety programme 1. Ensure compliance with OHS Act and relevant government legislation 2. Ensure the development and implementation of safety programs 3. Ensure the planning and implementation of safety training programs 4. Ensure compliance with Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) Ensure that production and safety standards are in compliance with the OHS 1. Ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2. Ensures compliance with NTE policies and procedures. 3. Ensures correct PPE is worn 4. Attends Safety Committee meetings 5. Maintains appropriate standards of housekeeping Ensure effective performance of staff and teams 1. Recommends new appointments to meet the approved needs of the department 2. Ensures the induction, training and development of the production teams 3. Ensures open lines of two-way communication 4. Ensures continuous and annual performance feedback 5. Ensures workplace discipline through example and facilitating the grievance process, and corrective and disciplinary procedures Comply the requirements of ISO and QMS 1. Maintain standard formats of documentation 2. Issue incidents and QIRs 1. Grade 12 2. Batchelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering 3. Diploma in Business Management/Administration (be an added advantage) or good working knowledge thereof 4. Project Management qualification (be an added advantage) or good working knowledge thereof 5. Government Certificate Of Competency (GCC) Factories 6. 5 years experience in an industrial process plant 7. 5 years experience in managing a maintenance team 8. 5 years experience in safety management and quality control systems KEY ATTRIBUTES 1. Interpersonal Communication: Ability to give and receive information, views and opinions in order to inform, educate, or influence 6. Time management: The ability to manage a task or tasks, to achieve objectives and outputs, continuously striving to reach a specific goal 7. Integrity: The ability to be honest and open, inspiring a high level of trust and respect from others
