Project: LAPA SW Job Function: Site Fabrication Coordinator Date of start: July 2024 Employment: Full-time (12 hours per day) Sundays off  Minimum duration: 7 months Location: South Africa, Saldanha (in vicinity of Cape town) Languages: English Specific Roles and Responsibilities include: Oversee fabrication, inspection, testing and load-out of all structures and installation aids.
The structures shall all be fabricated by the Fabrication subcontractor, and the successful candidate will work closely with the fabricator to ensure all contractor and company requirements are met.
Supervision of additional manpower (from HSE and QAQC) to follow the subcontractor's work acting on behalf of Contractor.
Responsibility for ensuring Contractor's QA/QC and the fabrication subcontractor's strategies, philosophies, plans and schedules for fabrication and construction activities comply with Contract requirements; Specific supervision of the QAQC process to ensure the correct allocation of the steel and the proper procedure follow-up by subcontractor.
Coordinate inspection requirements for material and equipment associated with fabrication, construction and offshore installation; Eventual support with project material logistics (steel, project equipment, etc...).
Provide onsite Fabrication support to Contractor and Fabrication Subcontractor personnel; Provide field resolution solutions to fabrication issues as they arise and escalate issues before they hinder progress and cause delays.
Hold and participate in daily, weekly and monthly meetings with the fabrication subcontractor, Contractor and, if needed, the Company; Interface with subject matter experts on welding, materials, NDT, painting, fabrication, quality control,  engineering, system  integration testing  and  factory acceptance  testing to ensure that contractor or Technical Requirements are met; Assist with the delivery of fabrication Subcontractors documentation and procured materials to meet the construction schedule; Continually monitor and update fabrication progress schedule; Oversee timesheets for all onsite work which is deemed Time and Material; Assist the construction Lead as required; Assist the Construction Package Lead to ensure effective project closeout, including documentation at end of construction; Support project-wide safety initiatives, including development and implementation of an incident- & injury-free culture and Safety Management Plan(s); Maintain positive and effective working relationship with Contractor and Fabrication Subcontractor personnel during onshore fabrication; The position will be based full-time at a fabrication yard in South Africa; however, it may include only sporadic visits to Contractor Offices in Paris or in Rio; Skills and Qualifications: 10 Years minimum in a leadership role in Structure fabrication, materials, welding, testing, inspection, or design for the oil and gas industry, including both Contractor and/or Operator roles; In-depth knowledge of all aspects relating to the fabrication and construction of offshore structures, including structural assembly welding, NDT and QA/QC.
The candidate should have specific experience in supervising fabrication works, including structural fabrication.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage conflict and work collaboratively Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or similar); visible demonstration of commitment to development and maintenance of a comprehensive HSE culture; Welding, NDT, or certification is preferred but not mandatory.
