Expert Analyst: WaterThe Expert Analyst: Water role will focus on building GreenCape's technical expertise in the South African and African water sector.
The candidate will have the opportunity to influence the direction of South Africa's water future.The expert analyst will be exposed to a wide range of projects in the water sector.
This role aims to provide technical and economic skills to GreenCape's water team.
The candidate must have a passion for the South African water sector.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the technical lead on water sector projects, providing strategic and expert input to drive project success.Develop viable business cases for investment and provide technical support to municipalities and government.Leverage an existing network within the sector, including relationships with key individuals at Western Cape municipalities and water and sanitation technology providers.Lead complex projects in the water sector, including cross-sectoral projects, developing, coordinating, and managing technical activities within project teams.Act as a leader in the water space, leveraging external stakeholder relationships to benefit current and future projects.Lead and guide engagements with municipalities and other key stakeholders.Demonstrate a strong understanding of non-sewered sanitation technologies and lead projects to unlock wider adoption of these technologies.Provide expertise in sustainable technology options for water and wastewater infrastructure.Screen and develop investment pipelines for municipal water sector projects.Competencies and SkillsStrong communication skills (written and verbal), with confidence in both formal and informal public speaking engagements.Ability to initiate and foster productive, professional relationships with various stakeholders, including businesses, funders, and government.Problem-solving skills and the ability to define interventions to drive and grow markets.Strong analytical skills, including experience in analysing impact indicators for water and wastewater infrastructure projects and non-sewered sanitation technologies.Ability to apply technical knowledge to critically analyse and interpret complex information, identify patterns, and develop solutions.RequirementsSix or more years' relevant experience.Proven track record of leading water sector projects and developing business cases for investment.Experience in engaging with municipalities and other stakeholders in the water sector.Strong understanding of sustainable and non-sewered sanitation technologies.Contract DetailsThis is a full-time contract position until 31 March 2026.
Contract renewal will depend on performance and the HR requirements of the organisation at the time.
The position includes a three-month probation period.
