DescriptionAmerican Track is looking for a diligent Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the projectReview design documents to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing for key project elementsPreparing material estimates and cost estimatesConduct site investigation prior to bidding to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be presentCreate labor estimates and proposals in a timely manner for any projectManaging bids from vendors and subcontractorsCompiling and recording actual costsDevelop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractorsAll other duties as assignedRequirementsEducation Required:High School Diploma or GEDBachelor's degree in engineering/construction related field (Preferred)Work Experience Required:1-2 years of successful management experience1-2 years of experience in construction estimating (Railroad experience preferred)Skills & Knowledge Required:Highly organized and proficient communicatorAbility to read and accurately interpret civil drawingsIdeal candidate would have background in railroad or highway constructionProficiency with Heavy Bid, Construction link or similar estimating productsProficiency with primavera P6 or similar scheduling softwareProficiency with Microsoft ExcelExpertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperienced in project estimationExceptional time management skills
