Estimator Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced estimator to join our team. As an estimator, you will be responsible for calculating major geotechnical construction cost estimates, and you will be involved in the planning, development, negotiation, and finalization of tender submissions and handing over information for contract execution of projects.To be successful as an estimator, you should have excellent communication skills and great attention to detail, be able to communicate and interact with a range of professionals, make accurate time and cost estimates, and resolve any issues that arise.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDetermining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labour for geotechnical construction projects throughout South Africa.Analyzing client and project specifications and providing for them in estimates.Preparing estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work.Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.Preparing estimates to meet project goals.Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status.Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates.Interacting with other members of the contracting team and handing overall all relevant information for the execution of successful bids.Attending site inspections and delivering bids, when required.Desired Experience & QualificationQualified Estimator with at least 5 years' experience in the construction industry.Experience in the geotechnical industry beneficial.Good working knowledge of construction standards and specifications including COLTO, COTO and other SANS & SABS standards.Good working knowledge of construction contract documents such as FIDIC, GCC, NEC, JBCC.Excellent time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.Good management and negotiation skills.Ability to closely collaborate with other team members.Excellent writing and oral presentation skills.Good overall computer skills with a high level of efficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.Willing to travel and perform site visits.Package & RemunerationMarket related depending on experience.
