Duties & ResponsibilitiesJob purpose:The objective of pricing is to guide the business in setting the cost of a service to the company's existing or potential customers. Identify and qualify potential new customers in the sales territory and turn this into increased business for the company. Develop and maintain relationships to achieve or exceed revenue goals.Send accurate and complete freight quotations in response to inquiries made by sales staff within quotation turnaround time set by the department manager.Contact shipping lines and airlines for freight rates based on the destination/transit time requirements provided by the customer.Maintain and update pricing database and submit related monthly reports in an accurate and timely manner.Develop and continuously expand a local network of carriers and a global network of agents to ensure the best route, pricing, and other freight options possible for customers.Maintain strong relationships with vendors (shipping lines, airlines, international agents, and other logistics companies) to obtain updated pricing and freight information.Coordinate and solve problems with the operations team, carriers, and other entities to ensure successful deliveries of customer cargo.Actively advise and participate in making decisions regarding the selection of carriers and routes.Handle pricing and submitting quotations for import as well as export shipments.Desired Experience & QualificationExperience:High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is a plus.A minimum of 2 years of supply chain experience in the import/freight forwarding industry.Must have a comprehensive understanding of selling principles.Must have experience in air/sea freight pricing.Experience working with ShipShape is a plus.Knowledge of air/sea operations.Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to resolve conflicts in a professional and urgent manner.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete projects within assigned deadlines.Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.Must be detail-oriented with emphasis on accuracy and quality.Ability to identify issues and act with a sense of urgency to resolve them.Must be computer savvy and proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.Must be a team player and able to work independently.Must be flexible in working overtime as needed.
