Hire Resolve's client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Environmental Manager to join their team of professionals in Midrand, Gauteng.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive and well-documented integrated mine closure plans for the mine.
Develop and refine company-wide environmental policies and strategies to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that environmental objectives and targets are clearly defined, measurable, achievable, and integrated into the operational standard operating procedures.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from mining operations.
Assess climate-related risks and opportunities and integrate climate resilience measures into operations.
Oversee water resource management, including efficient usage and responsible discharge practices.
Implement water conservation measures and engage with local communities on sustainable water practices.
Establish waste management protocols to minimize waste generation and promote recycling and reuse.
Explore opportunities for integrating circular economy principles into mining operations.
Develop and execute biodiversity conservation plans, including habitat restoration and protection initiatives.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to biodiversity.
Monthly reporting of rehabilitation progress against targets.
Lead efforts to rehabilitate and restore mining areas to their natural state.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to ensure the long-term ecological health of impacted areas.
Stay updated on environmental laws and regulations relevant to the mining industry.
Ensure that mining operations are fully compliant with all applicable environmental standards.
Conduct risk management involvement in Environmental Community Projects.
Report on Environmental performance.
Requirements
Bachelor's, Post-Graduate or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
10+ years in conceptual/strategic environmental management within the mining industry.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
Project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in environmental impact assessment and sustainability reporting.
Benefits
