Department: Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC)
Location/ Office: Tyger Waterfront, Cape Town and site based
Work Model: 50% in office and 50% on site
Remuneration Bracket: Market related with benefits included into CTC
Company & Job Overview The Environment, Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for drafting all relevant site policies and procedures, ensuring the adherence to all relevant regulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Health & Safety Ensure the HSE Policies and standards are complied with during project executionEnforcing compliance with the Client HSE specification and Quality policies, plans and procedures – enforce a Zero tolerance stance on Health and Safety on siteEnforces site HSE discipline in accordance with the project construction framework, and approved Health and Safety PlanRegular site inspections and monitoring of site activitiesEnsure HSE Audits are executed and HSE measures are appliedCoordinate H&S Agent Monthly audits with Contractors and ensure reporting and closing of finding from auditsMonitoring all construction works and ensuring compliance with site permits and standardsSupport the ECO, Project team and Contractor to ensure compliance with the project EMPr.Support the implementation of the approved ESMS.Construction Support to Construction ManagerSupport HSE function of Contractors (EPC Contractor, Owner's Engineer, etc.)Contractor managementEnsure contractors comply with their construction HSE Plan,Chair weekly and monthly HSE meetings with Contractors on site and ensure MoM are accurately recordedDocument managementOversee and manage site generated HSE documentationEffectively communicate company values and objectives on siteReporting Coordinate Contractor HSE statistics collection and reporting obligations – (weekly & monthly)Internal team reporting and preparation of external reporting to lendersReport any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions to the Principal Contractor Construction Site Managers and ContractorsQuality Oversee construction quality processes with regards HSE mattersReview RAMS submitted by contractorsIssue, monitor and review HSE NCR's to contractors.Design and Engineering SupportEnsure all HSE issues related to site designs are correctly implementedPOSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related fieldMinimum experience required
Minimum 7 years' experience as an EHS ManagerExperience drafting procedures and policies, from scratch and independentlyExperience in renewable energy industry is advantageousExposure and knowledge of wind / PV project execution, or working on mining projects is advantageousIn possession of a valid driver's licenseIndustry knowledge, technical competence and skills
Health & Safety, Environment Health and Safety (EHS), and Occupational Health knowledgeComplete understanding of the construction permitting processExperience in conducting accident investigations and providing recommendations to prevent future incidentsAbility to develop and implement EHS training programsStrong project management and problem-solving skillsPERSON SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Behavioural Competencies / Performance Drivers
