Position Overview The position reports to and supports the Environmental Lead in ensuring:

Compliance with all required environmental-related legislation and authorisations; Compliance with corporate strategy; Certification in terms of ISO14001; The identification, evaluation, monitoring, measurement, management and minimization ofenvironmental aspects, their impacts and the risks related to it; Continuous improvement in practices related to environmental aspects to reduce impacts and risks. The position will be responsible:

To guide, advise and provide support to the Operational area(s) the position is responsible for with regards to Environmental Management across a broad spectrum of environmental matters. For the day-to-day implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the environmental management system and its related requirements and activities involving the identification, communication and monitoring of Environmental aspects and their associated impacts, legal requirements and risks. For the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of mitigation measures for the identified Environmental aspects and their associated impacts and risks. The position may:

Carry some legal appointments (either temporary or permanently), as may be required by applicable environmental related legislation and/or authorisations or organisational requirements. Be required to conduct standby duties (without additional compensation). Primary Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible for the activities set out below. These responsibilities are not absolute. The appointee may at times be assigned and be required to assume other responsibilities and/or perform other duties not listed.

Assist in obtaining, maintaining, implementing and/or updating of all required environmental-related authorisations for the Namakwa Sands Operation. This may include, but are not limited to: o Identifying new authorisations required or authorisations that require to be updated (e.g. renewed, amended, etc.); o Compiling and/or reviewing authorization application-related documentation; o Ensuring authorization conditions are understood and appropriately implemented by relevant persons. Assist in implementing, maintaining and improving the Environmental management system, ensuring it is in line with and/or accommodates the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management system standards, and company standards. Compile, assist with the compilation, provide inputs into and/or update environmental impact and risk assessments routinely and/or when changes in equipment configuration, modifications and operational processes occur. Plan and conduct environmental management inspections and audits to ensure operational practices are aligned with statutory, corporate and site standards and requirements, and report and investigate the findings of these assessments as required to internal and/or external stakeholders as required. Plan, implement and/or maintain an environmental and radiation monitoring programme of legally and other key environmental and radiation performance data, ensuring data is appropriately collected, managed, stored, quality controlled, analysed, interpreted, investigated (where required), and the data/findings from the monitoring is reported to internal and/or external stakeholders as required. Develop, implement and/or ensure the implementation of, and review of environmental and other SHE standards, documents, procedures, methods and guidelines that are applicable to operations to align with Tronox management standards and regulatory requirements. Implement and maintain the environmental emergency preparedness and response programme, which may include, but are not limited to: o Drafting and/or providing inputs into the development and implementation of Emergency Response Plans; o Responding to emergencies. Ensure environmental complaints, incidents and emergencies are identified, investigated, reported (internally and to relevant authorities) and mitigation measures (if required) is implemented. Liaise with employees on all levels concerning environmental matters, including but not limited to providing advice and guidance about the possible environmental impacts associated with activities/aspects and the measures to be implemented for environmental protection. Coaches and advises operational / maintenance / contractors on the content of statutory and environmental management system requirements to ensure compliance. Implement and maintain an Environmental and Radiation Awareness Training programme (for employees and service providers), including, but not limited to, identifying, compiling and/or providing the training material (e.g. content, manual, presentation and/or testing requirements) for training/awareness raising, and facilitating (where required) the training/awareness raising initiatives. Implement and maintain a waste management programme, involving, but not limited to: o The identification, quantification and categorization of all waste arising; o The identification, communication and ensuring the implementation of appropriate waste management interventions (methods and procedures); The identification, communication and ensuring the implementation of an appropriate waste management record keeping system; o Ensuring the appropriate waste management disposal, storage and decontamination facilities are established and appropriately maintained and managed. Guide the activities of, and if required, either conduct or provide input into the performance review of the Environmental Observer(s); Guide and manage Service Providers that has been appointed to assist with environmental-related tasks. Ensure all Service providers (under own and the control of others) comply with relevant safety, environmental, health and radiation regulatory requirements and Tronox standards. Generate/Draft and timely submit accurate data, statistics, graphs, documents, presentations and reports required by internal and external stakeholders and the Environmental Management System. Identify and interpret existing and new environmental-related legislation and requirements, advising leadership of its implication and ensuring its implementation where required. Advise leadership on environmental technical and regulatory issues. Ensure technical environmental documentation and libraries are kept updated. Plan, guide, implement and evaluate specialist and other investigatory studies that assist in e.g. understanding the environmental impacts of operational activities/practices and/or improving environmental management practices. Ensure the appropriate management and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and tools used by the environmental function (including appropriate storage, calibration, maintenance, etc.). Develop, participate in the development of, oversee and manage the budget and forecast variances and accruals for the area for which the position is the budget holder. Qualifications & Experience BSc, BTech or National Diploma in the Environmental Management/Natural Science Disciplines or equivalent (NQF Level 7) (Mandatory) Environmental Management System Implementation (Mandatory) and Auditing (Recommended) Valid code 08 (Code B) driver's license Medically fit for the position as per company requirements 5 years operational experience in a Mining, Heavy Industrial Metallurgical or Chemical Production environment (Recommended). 3 – 5 years' operational experience in Safety, Environmental and/or Radiation management (Mandatory); 2 years' experience in conducting Safety, Health, Environmental and/or Radiation hazard/impact/risk assessments (Mandatory); 2 years' experience in implementing and maintaining a Safety, Environmental and/or Radiation Monitoring programme (Mandatory); 2 years' experience in implementing and maintaining a Management System based on ISO 9001, 14001 and/or 45001 standards (Recommended); Supervisory experience will be an added advantage. Knowledge & Skills A good understanding of the South African Environmental Regulatory environment (Mandatory) A good understanding and knowledge of Monitoring principles and techniques (Mandatory), with a broad knowledge and understanding of the environmental monitoring methods employed in a Mining, Heavy Industrial Metallurgical or Chemical Production environment (Recommended) Strong Data analytics skills and experience (Mandatory), with a broad knowledge and understanding of analyzing and interpreting environmental monitoring data (Recommended) Strong Problem-solving skills Good communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills (Mandatory), including: o Strong document and report writing skills (Mandatory) o Relationship Building and Networking skills (Recommended) o Stakeholder management/Facilitation skills (Recommended) o Meeting facilitation skills (Recommended) Able to gather relevant information from a broad range of categories, perspectives and sources inside and outside the organisation and linking it to the needs of the Organisation (Recommended).
