Engineering SuperintendentTawana Hotazel Mining (Pty) Ltd and Sebilo Resources (Pty) Ltd Mine engage in exploring, mining, and processing of manganese material in the Northern Cape area. The Engineering Superintendent will provide specialized technical support and expertise for the Engineering Services function, assisting with modifications, projects, studies, and plans to meet business objectives.Duties & ResponsibilitiesSHEQ CompliancePromote and assure adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures.Identify unsafe and hazardous situations.Diagnose incidents and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action.Stop work in unsafe areas.Implement compliance requirements.Communicate compliance changes.Planning, Leading and ControllingSupport and participate in sub-functional change management to drive transformation and optimization.Identify and recommend initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity, and reducing operating costs.Manage operations and activities of the engineering function within the area of control.Obtain, check, and refine information; collate and submit reports.Run data exception reports and take corrective action.Monitor the execution of asset care activities.Ensure operational plan is implemented.Asset Care & MaintenanceMonitor maintenance and repairs.Provide support and assistance to the department.Monitor maintenance, installations, and repair of electrical equipment and power supply units and lines on planned maintenance and breakdown work orders.Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions.Initiate and conduct root cause analysis to extend mean time between failures.Produce procedures and processes as remedial action and implement changes required.Cost Planning and ManagementAssist with compilation of maintenance budget and submit for approval.Identify and develop cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers.Continuously review cost vs. benefit and report recommendations.Conduct root cause analysis of machinery failures and regular high-cost replacements.Identify cost savings initiatives and implement them while meeting department objectives.People ManagementSupervise and plan subordinate activities to ensure effective task execution and departmental operations.Supervise subordinates' key performance areas by setting and monitoring performance standards.Manage training of subordinates against development plans and performance contracts.Perform tasks related to the job and working environment at the discretion of the Manager or direct supervisor.Desired Experience & QualificationMinimum QualificationsGrade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.Technical Knowledge and SkillsSupervising maintenance employees in a mining environment.Planning and evaluation skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Driver's license.Experience5 Years' experience in a maintenance environment in mining.2 Years supervisory experience in a maintenance environment in mining.Please ensure you meet the Minimum Requirements & Key Skills listed before submitting your CV, as applications not meeting these criteria will not be considered.
