The ideal candidate will be responsible and take overall charge of all engineering aspects of the mining operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within regulatory compliance. This role involves the coordination of technical activities, the maintenance, contractor management and optimization of mining equipment and infrastructure, and the implementation of engineering solutions to enhance operational effectiveness. The Engineer will also ensure adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), driving continuous improvement in safety practices.ResponsibilitiesReview and approve engineering designs and plans to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and safety practices.Manage procurement processes for engineering-related materials and equipment to ensure timely availability.Oversee the implementation of new technologies and innovations to improve mining operations.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations by implementing sustainable mining practices.Develop and manage budgets for engineering projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial accountability.Provide technical support and expertise during emergency situations or incidents on site.Liaise with government and regulatory bodies to ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational risks.Oversee the preparation of technical documentation and manuals for equipment and processes.Lead investigations into accidents or incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Manage and control contractors performance under the department.Manage and supervise a team of Engineering personnel consisting of General Engineering Supervisor (GES), Electrical Specialist, Maintenance Planner, Artisans and Assistants.QualificationsB Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.GCC for Mines & Works.At least 5 years' experience at the Engineer level within the mining industry and an overall 10 years working experience.Managerial qualification.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeIndustriesMining
