Experience and Skills:
The candidate must:
Have a BSc (honours) degree in Engineering Geology.
Have an active Candidate Natural Scientist registration with SACNASP or equivalent.
Demonstrate interest in Geological Engineering or a related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to SRK's work and projects.
Possess 0-2 years of relevant experience.
Have a proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by SRK's policies and procedures.
Be capable of taking direction from supervisors, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
Exhibit competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
Have basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Have good written and communication skills (in English).
Possess knowledge and understanding of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint.
Have AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge (an advantage).
Have a desire to learn and grow quickly, as well as develop skills associated with the engineering field.
Be willing to work across disciplines and develop a diverse skill set.
Work as part of a team, providing support where required.
Be resourceful, with good initiative and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities:
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal of developing technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Engineering Geology.
Assist with project research and fieldwork (soil profiling and core logging), including preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Notes:
There is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
