Experience and Skills
The candidate must:
Have a BSc (honours) degree in Engineering Geology.
An active Candidate Natural Scientist registration with SACNASP or equivalent.
Demonstrated interest in Geological Engineering or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to SRKs work and projects.
0-2 Years of relevant experience.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by SRKs policies and procedures.
Capable of taking direction from supervisors, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, i.e. expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Have good written and communication skills (in English).
Knowledge and understanding of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint.
AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge will be an advantage.
Have a desire to learn and grow quickly as well as to develop skills associated with the engineering field.
Be willing to work across disciplines and develop a diverse skill set.
Work as a part of a team, providing support where required.
Be resourceful, with good initiative, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Engineering Geology.
Assist with project research, field work (soil profiling and core logging), including preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Notes
There is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
