PURPOSE
The Engineering Foreman is responsible for maintenance and repairs of all machinery and related Processing Plant equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry and fulfil responsibilities of a MHSA Section 2.9.2 legal appointment.
Maintain FAMP policies, Standards and procedure requirements.
Preparation and execution of scheduled routine maintenance, in conjunction with production planning.
Champion the implementation of proactive maintenance and the elimination of reactive maintenance by implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
Support operations by providing effective equipment maintenance ensuring equipment reliability and availability.
Manage parts and inventory.
Control maintenance costs effectively and prevent as far as possible over expenditure.
COORDINATOR
Issue work schedules and job cards.
Lead the team to comply with company SHE strategy and zero harm framework.
Develop, review, and agree on the weekly maintenance plan with the Maintenance and Process team. Ensure safe execution.
Reduce reaction times to breakdowns (MTTR) and increase mean time between failures (MTBF) through the effective implementation of maintenance best practices, systems, and procedures.
Oversee third party contractor maintenance and compliance.
Maintain an organised, clean, and safe work area.
Evaluate condition monitoring status.
ADMINISTRATION
Ensure maintenance logs and work order documentation on equipment inspection and repairs are maintained to required standards.
Prepare month-end performance report for engineer.
Generate cost report to site manager/engineer.
Ensure all breakdowns are appropriately recorded by subordinates.
MANAGING THE TEAM
Select and appoint competent and passionate people.
Supervise, train, and develop maintenance subordinates.
Maintain open channel communication with subordinates through daily meetings for two-way feedback.
Monitor performance & maintain discipline.
Serve as a mentor to yearly intake of work integrated learning students.
QUALIFICATIONS
N3 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering subjects.
Trade Test MQA/MERSETA preferred.
Supervisory Course (Advantageous).
EXPERIENCE
Learnership/Apprentice in Mining/construction/transport/plant or manufacturing (2 years).
Artisan (3-5 years in Mining/plant or manufacturing).
3 Years management experience.
Experience on Processing plant.
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Good verbal and written communications.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated firm supervisory skills.
Computer literacy: Excel Basic; Pragma Onkey basic.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering safe practice.
Strong technical skills and knowledge of best practices in maintenance procedures and protocols.
