This Subsidiary is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of an Engineer: Electrical specialising in Power Systems Studies.

Core Purpose of the Role:
In this role, you will be tasked with handling the technical design and power systems studies for projects within the Section. Additionally, you will provide support to Professional Engineers, Project Managers, and other professionals/ consultants. Your focus will specifically involve leading and executing grid studies (utilizing PowerFactory/ PSSE and/or ETAP) as well as managing electrical infrastructure projects within the group.
Key Performance Area's
Providing input into the design of transmission and distribution switching stations and substations which includes design from 11 kV up to 500 kV.
Substation Primary Plant design (Develop SLD, GA, Sections, EarthGrid, Lighting, Lightning, Trench and Conduit layout).
Earthing design in CDEGS.
Lighting design in Relux and Dialux. (Develop 3D models in CAD and import to Relux or Dialux).
Lightning Protection design in CDEGS based on international standards and Electro Geometric Modelling. (Develop 3D models in SES Shield).
EMF calculations and modelling in CDEGS.
Corona, Noise and RFI calculations based on EPRI methods and modelling in CDEGS.
Short Circuit Forces calculations based on international standards calculated with MATHCAD would be advantageous.
Compile BOMs, reports and engineering calculations.
Compile Primary plant equipment technical specifications and schedules.
Supervise and lead small teams consisting of Technicians, Students, Draughtsman, and Graduates.
Provide guidance and mentorship to Technicians, Graduate Technologists, and/or Graduate Engineers in the utilization of relevant software tools.
Review and assess the work produced by other team members to ensure accuracy and quality.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
BEng/BSc/BTech Electrical Engineering with a preference for specialization in power systems studies.
Professionally Registration with ECSA.
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of practical experience in the electrical / consulting industry including experience in the Mining industry.
Minimum 3 years' experience in Power System Studies (PowerFactory or ETAP and CDEGS).
A good understanding and knowledge of all substation equipment, structures, hardware, clamps, busbars, cables, and conductors applicable to voltages up to 500kV.
Basic Renewable energy design experience.
Basic LV and Secondary Plant experience will be advantageous.
Overhead line design in PLS-CADD will be advantageous.
Project management skills including schedules in MS Projects.
A proficient user of EMT simulation software and commonly used network simulation software (Eg. PowerFactory , ETAP, PSSE/ PSCAD).
Working experience in performing a range of studies including Grid Code compliance, Grid impact Study, Transmission planning studies, insulation coordination, switching studies, power quality studies, EMTP Studies, transient and dynamic performance studies, small signal analysis and forensic studies
