Job Description Job Summary Responsible for all electrical maintenance and installation work.
Does fault finding and repairs on all electrical equipment.
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.
Job Duties & Responsibilities: Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, testing and repairs to equipment.
Conduct electrical repairs to all machinery, plant and equipment.
Read and interpret electrical drawings.
Repair pneumatics, hydraulics, date coders, aircons, refrigeration, effluent plant equipment and can seaming machinery as required.
Ensuring minimum downtime in the event of breakdown.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and equipment to locate cause of breakdown.
Test electrical systems using testing devices.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power equipment.
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, based on job specifications.
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment.
Overhaul electrical motors and starters as instructed.
Order and collect replacement parts and do repairs.
Ensure light fittings throughout the factory/ offices are in good working condition.
Conduct visual inspections.
Check and repair the starters and auto transformers.
Checks inverters every six months to ensure that they are producing the correct voltage.
Report any problems that require additional parts to the Supervisor.
Install new starters, motors, and panels onto factory machines (equipment up to maximum of 400v).
Set up date coders online and programme.
Check all electrical equipment on the factory machines on an annual basis.
Report any parts which need to be ordered.
Overhaul and repair the equipment as necessary.
Required Qualifications and Experience N4 Certificate in Electrical Engineering; Electrical Trade Test Certificate (RED SEAL) Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience in FMCG Industry or similar A strong technical ability and working on heights.
Knowledge of wiring code SANS10142 desired but not essential Ammonia refrigeration knowledge (CAT A/B) training desired but not essential Prepared to work overtime / shifts / standby / call outs when required Valid driver's license essential and own transport.
