Electrical Technician: ENGIE Kathu Operations (Internal/External) Permanent Position Purpose Apply Electrical expertise to Electrical assets to achieve the Plant operational targets, as per Company's procedures and Maintenance as per Electrical Engineer's instructions, ensuring all Electrical works are completed in due time and at a minimum cost.Execute Electrical day-to-day maintenance activities according to Maximo notification and priorities set by the Engineer.Take ownership of Electrical equipment, striving to reduce equipment downtime and ensure high Plant availability at a minimum cost.Troubleshoot electrical problems as necessary with the Engineer, Maintenance colleagues, and Operations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to defects found.Ensure that contractors have all needed resources and tools to conduct Electrical maintenance activities effectively and that tasks they perform are properly recorded in CMMS.Assist the Engineer in preparing and scheduling daily jobs.Report to the Engineer all jobs carried out and record them properly in Maximo.Participate in Plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Electrical Engineer.Review vendors' documents, maintenance manuals, and spare parts lists.Participate in drafting Electrical maintenance procedures necessary for Plant operations and participate in SAP-PM/Maximo development and implementation.Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical specifications to determine wiring layouts and installation procedures.Qualifications: Grade 12 (With Maths and Science/Electrical Technical studies).National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering) and 3 years Industrial or Power plant experience ORQualified Electrical artisan and 5 years Industrial or Power plant experience.5 years Industrial experience.Experience: At least 5 years' experience in Electrical maintenance of large power generation or continuous process plants.Extensive VFD experience (Power Electronics, SD500 – 700; added advantage).Knowledge of applicable electrical codes.Hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of Electrical equipment of steam or gas turbines.Hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and testing of protection equipment, generators/transformers, MV/LV switchgears.Hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of Instruments is an advantage.Skills: Highly proactive and self-motivated.Good interpersonal skills.Ability to think clearly and respond calmly in emergency situations.Excellent organizational skills.Good problem-solving and analytical skills.A strong Instrumentation aptitude, with an in-depth understanding of chemical, physical, and mathematics.Language: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.Knowledge of Tswana or Afrikaans language is an added advantage.IT: Computer literate: must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Databases, Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint.Additional Information: Incomplete CVs and/or applications will not be considered.
