Electrical Plant Engineer (Durban)

Purpose: The incumbent will be responsible for managing electrical and instrumentation maintenance and support general plant maintenance and optimization by initiating equipment improvements and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team. Duties include:Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance to legislationAssessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities. Planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high-risk areas (high pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid)Ensure accurate drawings and documentation are updated with all projects and modificationsConduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP studyInterfacing of projects/modifications with productionManage change and modificationsLead project/modification commissioning when requiredEnsure plant personnel is trained to operate new process/equipment and that SOP's are providedComply with ModProp processIdentify recurring troublesome equipment/problems and propose and implement alterations/modifications where agreed.Assist maintenance to resolve breakdowns timeouslyRequirements:Minimum N6 Electrical Engineering / BTech2 years' FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines – Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/CivilKnowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental LegislationExpert knowledge of all major plant equipment
