Electrical Plant Engineer (Durban)

Purpose:  The incumbent will be responsible for managing electrical and instrumentation maintenance and support general plant maintenance and optimization by initiating equipment improvements and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team.  Duties include: Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance to legislation Assessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities. Planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high-risk areas (high pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid) Ensure accurate drawings and documentation are updated with all projects and modifications Conduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP study Interfacing of projects/modifications with production Manage change and modifications Lead project/modification commissioning when required Ensure plant personnel is trained to operate new process/equipment and that SOP's are provided Comply with ModProp process Identify recurring troublesome equipment/problems and propose and implement alterations/modifications where agreed. Assist maintenance to resolve breakdowns timeously Requirements: Minimum N6 Electrical Engineering / BTech 2 years' FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines – Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Civil Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental Legislation Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment
