DescriptionResponsibilities:Manage the development, design, and testing of renewable power and energy storage system projects including associated electrical devices and equipment, communications systems, power generators, motors, navigation systems, and electrical systems.Lead and conduct the conceptual and detailed designs of HV voltage substation secondary plant, including compiling functional design specifications related to protection and substation automation/SCADA and integration design to Utility systems.Lead and witness factory acceptance testing of protection schemes, metering schemes, telecoms schemes, and substation automation systems.Lead and monitor site installation work related to protection schemes, metering schemes, telecoms schemes, and substation automation systems, including all related power and control cable scheduling and installation.Lead and witness site acceptance testing of protection schemes, metering schemes, telecoms schemes, and substation automation systems.Author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.Oversee the manufacture of devices, systems, and equipment.Familiarize with general substation system processes, electrical design, application for approval by client company, technical disclosure and control of construction process, and basic understanding of electrochemical energy storage power stations.Understand local practices of technical document design and drawing in South Africa and facilitate local conversion of drawings designed by abroad companies.Cooperate with the design department and chief engineer to complete technical supervision and acceptance during project implementation.Communicate with customers, including answering technical questions, explaining technical points, and providing expert advice.Share and exchange experience, standards, and technical information with colleagues.Carry out all reasonable and lawful duties assigned by the Line Manager, including duties not normally associated with the Employee's specific position or job description.Provide engineering support and guidance during the construction and commissioning of the plants.Provide engineering guidance to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.Provide engineering input for development and maintenance of Electrical system and equipment standards, procedures, best practices, inspection contracts, and contractor selection guidelines.Promote an atmosphere of team spirit through good example, open communication, good listening, and timely problem resolutions.Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, reliability, and cost of quality goals.Foster and support positive working relationships with internal and external customers.Ensure preparation and follow-up on Punch Lists.Complete the cycle by training and guiding junior engineers.Personal Attributes:Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.Building Customer Loyalty: Effectively meeting customer needs; taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.Communication: Clearly and succinctly conveying information and ideas to individuals and groups in various situations; engaging the audience and helping them understand and retain the message.Continuous Improvement: Originating action to improve existing conditions and processes, identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions.Continuous Learning: Actively identifying new areas for learning; regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities, using newly gained knowledge and skills on the job.Contributing to Team: Actively participating as a member of a team to move towards the completion of goals.Initiating Action: Taking prompt action to accomplish objectives; being proactive.Managing Work (includes Time Management): Effectively managing time and resources to ensure efficient work completion.Work Standards: Setting high performance standards for self and others; assuming responsibility for completing assignments; self-imposing standards of excellence.During agreed hours of work, devote full-time attention, skill, and ability to fulfilling the job description and furthering the interests of the Employer.Observe utmost good faith towards the Employer and uphold corporate ethics.Maintain a clear criminal/credit record and provide contactable references.
