IntroductionLeading electrical construction specialist is recruiting for an Assistant Operations Manager, to be trained for the Operations Manager position. This is a senior Management position responsible for the full operations of a specific branch, including sales, operations and project installations.Duties & ResponsibilitiesKey Performance Areas (KPAs):Operational planning and managementManaging to achieve sales targets and to maximise operational project profitabilityDeveloping key business relationships and business developmentGeneral management and reportingJob description with more detail of key responsibilities:Operational planning and managementCompleting RFQ, tenders and costing for projectsEnsuring technical compliance of designs and installations according to applicable SANS code of practiceTraining project teams to complete installations according to the relevant SANS code of practicePlanning of projects and teamsPlanning of material and site-specific materialManagement of all health and safety related requirements from clients and projects with the support of the Safety dept.Communication with existing and potential clientsAdherence to all operations procedures and processesEnsuring that all relevant controls are in place and being adhered to for:VehiclesEquipmentToolsPPEMaterial and branch storeConsumablesHealth and Safety policies and proceduresOffice PropertySales targets and profitabilityResponsible for the overall team drive and motivation to achieve the set sales targets for the branch.Reporting weekly and monthly on the sales tracking and drafting sales forecasts for management.Managing projects and teams efficiently to enable cost savings, to work smarter and faster, to improve productivity which will result in improved project profitability.Analyzing project profitability report information and completing required corrective actions.Managing the debtor portfolio for the branch including invoicing.Developing key business relationships and business developmentBuilding strong business relationships with Consulting Engineers, Electrical Engineers and other stakeholders based on the following key relationship values:HonestyTrustworthinessCommitmentUrgencyReliabilityQualityAlways acting as a proud Brand Ambassador for the business.Leveraging key business relationships to further enhance the business pipeline of potential projects and tenders to support the sales responsibility.Identifying opportunities to tender for projects and to secure projects to achieve set sales targets.General management and reportingManagement of Operational teams in terms of any HR or operational requirements which could include:AppointmentsPromotionsDisciplinary process and actionsDismissalsIncentives and employee bonus schemes (Monthly Tool, Driver and Equipment bonuses)Project administrationOperations and team meetings or briefingsIdentifying business and project risks and discussing with management to address the potential risks.Completing required site visit and inspections, assessments and attend to client requested project meetings.Reporting to the Operations Manager in terms of branch performance, project progress and status, any operational challenges.Required Operations Management administration.Compliance with ISO relevant company procedures.Desired Experience & QualificationExperience & QualificationsMin. matric with post qualifications in Project Management, Operations Management or Business Management will be beneficialMin. 8 years work experience with at least 5 years in a Management position, with responsibilities for sales growthManaging at least 5 direct reporting employeesExperience in electrical or construction industries will be beneficialElectrical engineer or contracts manager experience preferredCharacteristics1. Focused, reliable and honest character2. Driven, ambitious, proactive to learn and develop skills3. Organized, neat with attention to detail4. Very good communication skills5.
