The Electrical Component Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Groups products are engineered to meet local market requirements.This includes designing, developing, testing, and introducing locally manufactured components, adapting and developing German-sourced designs to be compatible with local environmental conditions, and issuing technical data in line with the appropriate component engineering level. The role ensures the following criteria are met:The Groups products are built without issues.Local content requirements are fulfilled.Unique product features are incorporated.Safety and reliability in service are maintained.Discontinued models, still required in South Africa, are supported.Adherence to the required Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual.Tasks:The release of Electrical components for vehiclesThe resolution of design related problems on all locally manufactured platformsCo-ordination of testing and release of components and system, locally and at sourceMaintaining and updating the BOM systemProblem analysisMaintaining and updating the bill of materials systemCost analysis of various components, systems and projectsCost saving (PKO) initiation and investigationsProject management on new or changed systems and componentsRequirements:A National Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering)Requirements:A minimum of 5 years design and development experience in an automotive components for volume productionHigh level of understanding of technical/engineering concepts and designGood communication skillsProblem resolution capabilityProject management capabilityGood interpersonal skills (team and negotiating skills)Ability to lead and operate within a teamExcellent report writing and presentation skillsHigh degree of computer literacy (MS Office package, CAD)Ability to work and complete tasks without supervisionAbility to apply preventative and corrective tools and methods during the development process
