The incumbents will lecture and contribute to curriculum development in the Department of Agriculture while providing support to the department in pursuit of its objectives in work-based learning, community engagement, and research outputs.Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:Master's degree in Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Crop Production, and Soil ScienceBachelor's Degree in Agriculture, or related fields: Crop Science (Crop Science Lecturer) or Soil Sciences (Soil Science Lecturer)At least two years' experience, one of which must be in teaching in the Higher Education SectorKey Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:Teach agricultural practice, crop production, plant improvement and protection, research methods (ECP Lecturer Crop Production and Improvement) / teach basic soil science, soil chemistry, soil fertility management, plant nutrition and research methods (ECP Lecturer in Soil Science, Fertility Management and Plant Nutrition) to undergraduate and postgraduate studentsAcademic and administrative duties in the DepartmentMonitor and assess workplace-based learningAssist with marketing and recruitment activitiesParticipate in the Quality Assurance activities of the DepartmentPerform student assessmentsParticipate in research and publish research findings in DHET accredited journalsDevelop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodiesPerform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of DepartmentExcellent organizational and planning skillsAdaptability and continuous learningStrong learner focusCommunication and coaching skillsTeamworkProficiency in EnglishPractical knowledge and experience in the field of specializationGeneral Information:Closing Date: 20 October 2024NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
