Ecologist

Primary Duties: This position involves conducting both fieldwork and reporting for ecological and environmental work in Texas and New Mexico. Common tasks include pedestrian surveys for special status and endangered plant species, stream assessments, NEPA document preparation and writing, ArcGIS mapping, and desktop reviews. The individual should be comfortable performing pedestrian surveys under adverse climate conditions. The individual should also be comfortable with MS Word and have had at least an introductory coursework or experience with ArcGIS, or be willing to learn ArcGIS rapidly. Given the broad scope of our work area, overnight travel of up to 50% may be required, dependent on work volume and staffing. This position would be involved in all aspects of our work to the greatest extent possible and will have ample opportunity for growth and expansion of their skillset.
Requirements: B.S. in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Wildlife Science, Botany, or a similar field of study.Class C Drivers license with good driving record.Physically capable of conducting pedestrian surveys in adverse climate conditions.Introductory ArcGIS experience or willingness to quickly learn it.Willingness to travel on a regular basis.Highly Desired Skills: Prior experience in environmental consulting or with a regulatory agency.Familiarity with NEPA and Clean Water Act Regulations.Proficiency with ArcGIS.M.S. in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Wildlife Science, Botany, or a similar field of study.Compensation: Goshawk is willing to negotiate a competitive salary based on education and experience level. Salary range offered is $50,000-$65,000 annually.Employees are eligible for Health, Dental, and Vision insurance after 3 months.Employees are eligible for 401K/Roth with company matching after 1 year.Applicants without prior consulting experience or with limited experience may be offered part-time work to evaluate their potential for this staff position.
