This is a temporary contract role until July 2025 for an Admin Officer with an immediate start date (Compliance dependent) for a seven-month duration with a possible extension, offering 5 days in office work setting and a London location (Canary Wharf). Job Description: This is a brilliant opportunity for candidates to work as an Admin Officer on behalf of our client, East London Family Court, to support the admin team by processing family work and data input, case creation, orders, court clerking, correspondence, and any other family work tasks including general admin duties.
Key Responsibilities: Administration:Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings, and meetingsGeneral photocopying and filingCreating and updating records on in-house computer system and data inputPost opening and dispatchBooking, preparing, and organising meeting rooms, supporting training courses and other group activitiesPreparing meeting agenda, joining instructions, handouts, etc.Drafting:Standard letters and correspondence, minutes, notes, reports, submissions, etc., according to guidelines and instructionsOperations:Clerking civil and family courts, tribunals, and hearings, ensuring papers and materials are available and up to dateAssisting court users, supporting listing and rota management, checking filesContacting relevant parties, scheduling, serving court documents, executing a range of warrants, collecting fines and fees, etc., including the use of chip and pinHandling counter (face to face), written, and telephone enquiriesWorking as a team to ensure TIB (Team Information Board) meetings are relevant, timely, and productiveWorking as a team to problem solve, assess the impact of new SOPs, and contribute to small projectsUndertaking ad hoc roles within the band such as Jury Bailiff Officer, L+D Coordinator, H+S rolesProcessing Casework:Including standard documentation and information, court orders, claims, fines and fees, legal aidResulting courts accurately, interpreting the information required on a court fileWorking to workload targets in terms of throughput and accuracyChecking and Verifying:Documents, records, accounts, claims, and returns for approval, results, statistics, plans, etc., against criteria, regulations, or proceduresEnsuring compliance and administration documentation meet quality standardsCross-checking and validating work completed by colleaguesCollecting and Assembling Information:For returns, results, accounts, statements, warrants, statistical analysis, reports, etc.Interpreting source materials, preparation of bundles, chasingModifying and adjusting information and making decisions to allow work to be completedCollecting and assembling information to prepare for and run the daily TIB meeting, as requiredCommunicating with the Public, the Judiciary, other Court and Tribunal Users, and Representatives of other Agencies and Organisations:Communicating and working with the Judiciary, Magistracy, the Cluster Managers, Court staff, and other internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to collect information, check facts, communicate or enforce judicial decisions, give advice on the completion of forms or court procedures, etc.Delivering a helpful, prompt, polite, and 'right first time' service to our internal and external customersAt Brook Street, we believe that by harnessing diversity of thought and experience across our company, exceptional things happen.
